The American Dental Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that as soon as a baby gets their first tooth, you should use a smear of fluoride toothpaste on a toothbrush and gently brush their teeth. And then once they're 3 years of age, then you can use about a pea-sized amount of fluoride toothpaste. You had a specific question about your 3 year old, and once you switched to fluoride toothpaste, your child didn't like it so much. And there are a lot of different flavors out there on the market, so I recommend sticking with a fluoride toothpaste, but try a different flavor to see if your child will like it more. If you have specific questions about your child's oral health, talk with your dentist and they'll be able to give you tailored information and advice. If you have more questions for me in the future, feel free to ask them on our Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/IntermountainMoms, and recommend us to your friends and family too.
