Obama was our first foster kitty; he came to us as a 2-year-old VERY skittish and timid cat. We didn't know what kind of life he had before us, of course, but he was pretty leery of humans and would run away to hide when people with loud voices were in the house (even in a different room). This video was taken about a week after "Bama" started living with us. We were trying to get some pictures and video of him but as my husband and I both entered the room from different doorways, we could see 'Bama panicking as he looked desperately for a way out. Since we were blocking the exits, he made the quick decision to jump onto the back of the couch and up onto the half-wall above our staircase. From there it was an 11-foot drop to the bottom of the stairs, and his tail whipped around in circles almost like a helicopter the whole way down, where he landed easily on his feet and took off down the hallway. By the time 'Bama was adopted six months later he was no longer afraid of humans and had turned into quite the lap cat. We were lucky to have him staying with us!
