Lyrics:

(hook)
my momma said to be strong
cuz these days were gonna come
and she wasn't wrong
i just wish i knew everything she knew
but right now im young
livin out in the wild
steady chasin the crowd
they bringin me down down down

(verse1)
im livin life on the edge
i see the clowns fallin off
feel like maybe im different
but in the end we all got the same pigment
they wouldnt differentiate me from the next
see us all in a pile fell from the same steps
 failed from the same test
now we pawns on a chess board
stay poor unemployed
frontline in the war
hustle hard is a way of life
but im always outta breath
and my life still aint right
pukin in the corner everything i ate for lunch
whats gone be my dinner cuz i aint got enough
chillin wit the wrong friends got me messed up
i can only blame myself thas how i came up in this world
no children to speak of
grown up to fast see things u dont speak of
and u still wanna judge us
but u never been of us

(verse2)
tell me who gone help me navigate through the jungle
make my way out the tunnel
six feet under fore i even got my diploma
langston hughes couldnt write away my blues
mighta wore the same shoes but he aint standin here wit me
harlem aint the only ghetto and new york is just a pebble
aint no cameras but we on the same level
its kinda ironic that i grew up at the playground
now im found late nights chillin on the same grounds
sippin fortys wit shortys
pupils large as a army
mighty young but u can't tell me nothin
turn ur back once prolly gettin into something
car gone cash gone
cops come to cuff me
and all u rich muthafuckas disgust me
pointin with the hand out all while u judge me
jus stand in aww while i shake free
u could never be me

(verse3)
let me break down the cycle
tryin to find a job out heres for a psycho
if u got bad credit thats gonna bite u
dont kno what work got to do with my fico
mighta fell on hard times but they dont care
watch the score drop down wit a blank stare
dont speak right so they nose in the air
smellin like soul food so im in the mail room
glass ceiling low as a vacuum
feelin tense need a drink and some valium
headphones as i pump up the volume
man imma need a towel soon
sweatin profusely in the kitchen gotta leave
small city but i swear these streets a part of me
ridin in a hooptie tank on E
cashin in pennies just to make ends meet
and this is me

(poem)
tell me what the purpose of life is if the life u live has no purpose
this earth was made for and by us yet were enslaved
were in caves with no spark deep seas surrounded by sharks
tsunami waves crashing huts couldn't allude to our situation
and those that escape it dont look back for fear of slipping through the cracks
and falling back to the melting pot that begat them
