Unity's large and friendly user community is often cited as one of its greatest strengths, with the active online forums providing a wealth of information, experience, and advice for users. However, if the only time you log on is to ask for technical help or to promote your newly-launched game, you're missing out on many potential opportunities that community involvement can bring. In this session, Alastair Aitchison (Norfolk Game Developers) describes some of the benefits he's experienced from involvement with online and local game development communities - forming teams, receiving job offers, developing a featured asset, gaining coverage in national media, and making friends - and gives you some tips as to how you too can profit from being an active part of a community.
