(11 Nov 2018) A former track coach of a gunman who killed 12 people at a Southern California bar says he was volatile and sadistic and once told her he wanted to join the military so he could kill people for his country. Evie Cluke of Montclair said Sunday that she coached Ian David Long at Newbury Park High School in 2007 and 2008. She describes him as troubled and said she and other coaches reported disturbing behavior to school administrators to no avail. Authorities say Long shot and killed 12 people at the Borderline Bar & Grill in Thousands Oaks, California before authorities believe he fatally turned the gun on himself. Most of the victims were in their 20s enjoying the bar's country music "college night."
