Plan India's mobile creche programme is one of Plan's most innovative childcare schemes. Through this programme, Plan is reaching out to the most excluded groups of children whose parents are migrant labourers. The project design and concept is unique in India since it focuses on young children in the rapidly urbanizing capital of Delhi. Children of parents who work on construction sites do not receive proper guidance or attend school. Migrant workers at construction are usually unable to drop their children off at school and collect them after work, so Plan decided to take the childcare centres to the construction sites enabling parents to easily drop off and collect their children. Plan built mobile creches near to some of Delhi's busiest sites and is currently caring for 8,700 children aged up to 14.
