The City of Lights went dim at exactly 10.01pm local time Monday to mark the first anniversary of the Las Vegas massacre that took the lives of 58 people in the deadliest mass shooting in modern US history. The near-blackout on the Strip capped off a somber day of memorials in the notoriously lively city as hundreds of people gathered to pay tribute to those who lost their lives when gunman Stephen Paddock opened fire from an upper floor of the Mandalay Bay resort, spraying bullets down at the Route 91 Harvest Festival attended by some 20,000 people.on October 1, 2017.
