Multi-robot machine tending: http://www.primetest.com For more than 15 years, FANUC America Authorized System Integrator PrimeTest Automation has designed, developed, and integrated efficient automation solutions to meet clients’ aggressive goals and stringent quality requirements. PrimeTest developed this multi-robot material handling and machine tending system for a leading manufacturer of automotive drivetrain components. The system features two FANUC LR Mate 200iD robots, which move the customer's product, an automotive transmission component, through a series of process operations involving material blanking and bonding and then through final vision inspection. It features area safety scanners to guard the operator work area and uses Ethernet/IP communication between the automation controllers. This automated assembly system decreased the customer’s production time from 2 minutes per part to 3.75 parts per minute and reduced the number of operators required from 7 to 1, all while producing a more consistent final product.
