United Nations, New York, 8 May 2009 - Daily Briefing by the Office of the Spokesperson for the Secretary-General. The Security Council met this morning at the request of the Permanent Mission of Chad to the United Nations to discuss the situation in eastern Chad. According to Chads request, attacks had been perpetrated by the Government of Sudan against Chad, which threatened peace and security in the subregion and in Chad itself.
