Is sports really only useful for keeping us mentally and physically healthy or is there more to it? This talk focuses on the wider impact that sports has and does have on our society beyond just health. Having lived in different parts of both the US and Germany and having played a wide array of sports all across North America and Europe for many years I have gained a wide variety of experiences. I have seen how sports affect people of all types and feel like the true power and value of sports is often too easily overlooked. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx
