Everyone knows that Polar Bears still live in most Canadian cities, so when we were growing up in Churchill, Manitoba it was a tradition on the first day of school for us kids to go down under the bridge by the Town Hall and swim with an old bear known to everyone as "Flunky". He was old and only had about three teeth, but everybody loved him!

My Dad found some old home movies in the wood shed recently and there were a few parts with me and my friends swimming with Flunky in about 1974 or so.

Pretty hilarious and pretty Canadian as the parents always made us sing the old Dominion national anthem in French and English!
