Its Darn cold tonight in Wisconsin (although I'm actually in Escanaba MI and its cold here too), I started thinking of a warmer climate and my mind rested on Jaimaca. Harry Belafonte definitely popularized this song and he is who I first heard sing it. My dad had this song on a single (the flip side was mama look a boo-boo - another great song) and I liked it even back then when I was a nehi to a coke bottle. When my wife and I took a trip to Jamaica, a small band played this as we were getting on the bus and leaving. I wanted to stay longer, and I certainly hope I can go back soon. Now it is below zero F. in Wisconsin and it is probably in the 80's in Jamaica. The people in the next room just knocked on the wall and I am not happy... Good song to listen to (unless I sing it :-)
