A Manx song with words by J Fred Gill to the Air 'Yn Cullagh Breck er Sthrap' (The Speckled Heifer.) As referred to in the information about 'The Harvest of the Sea' in a previous video, this song emphasises how much the fishermen of the Isle of Man trusted in the Lord and prayed to Him before lowering their nets. Contrary Head and Niarbyl Point are two well known landmarks just south of the fishing port of Peel on the west coast of the island. This was the home of the large fishing fleet of the later 19th century. Cronk-ny-Arree Laa is 'the hill of the rising sun' and is to the south of Peel and as the name suggests hides the early morning sun from the Niarbyl Bay.
