Here you'll find  a funny yet very accurate and instructive  Russian version of a dance of shimmy made by a couple of  vintage Russian operetta artists  to a 1924 shimmy-hit from Emmerich Kalman's Operetta "Bayadera". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LtgnNcYP7uw The refrain goes in Russian like "Ach Mademoiselle, stancuyem shimmy". (Oh, let's dance shimmy, Mademoiselle). I German it was: Fräulein bitte woll'n sie Shimmy tanzen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YlMPURNOHq4 In Polish it went "Every Beauty Of Today Dances Shimmy" and my Mother had its sheet notes with a cover photo of Lucyna Messal - a Polish diva who made shimmy popular in Poland after the "Bayadera" premiere in Warsaw, on stage of the revue and operetta theatre Nowości" (Novelties). Unfortunately, I do not have any Polish version, so here's another hot Russian version made by two contemporary artists

They show, how difficult and sophisticated was the shimmy-step and how great, hot, envigorating is Emmerich Kalman's music!
