Twenty farmers have killed themselves in just 10 days in the cotton-growing area of Warangal in Telangana. This is because a disaster is unfolding across India's cotton fields. Spurious seeds mean the yield is much less than usual and when the farmers go to sell their cotton, they are getting much less than the minimum support price. This frightening, tragic statistic has evoked no response from the state who say the centre must fix a better price.
