Terrified funfair goers left stranded as rollercoaster fails

The 117ft-high Kumali rollercoaster suddenly stopped while going up an ascent at Flamingo Land near Malton, North Yorkshire, yesterday. One witness said more than 20 people were on the ride when it came to a stop at about 4.40pm. Nine were initially helped down with a further dozen remaining stranded for a longer period. The ride remained stationary for more than two hours with the people finally starting to be evacuated without it being restarted.
