MAN OF STEEL 2: Why Matthew Vaughn?

According to HeyUGuys, Matthew Vaughn has confirmed in an interview that he was or is in talks to direct a Superman film.  He hasn't said whether it was indeed Man of Steel 2 or just a Superman film.  But why Matthew Vaughn?  I believe because of the critics and wide acceptance of Wonder Woman, they have a clear view of what type of hope, fun, color that the audience that the studio wants to convert to.  After Justice League, all things Superman will be more clear but as a studio standpoint, I cannot argue.
