Now promoted to Lieutenant-Colonel, Roberto Nascimento (Wagner Moura) and his assistant Andre Matias (Andre Ramiro) are still fighting for justice amid the violence and corruption of modern-day Brazil. Disaster strikes when Nascimento is appointed leader of the military police unit charged with tackling a prison riot. When it turns into a bloodbath, Nascimento is accused of mismanaging the situation and relieved of his duties. He then finds himself tangled in a web of corruption that involves dirty fellow officers and crooked politicians ¬-- and goes right to the top.
Inspired by real events and co-written by Braulio Mantovani ('City of God'), this self-contained sequel to 'Elite Squad' struck such a chord with Brazilian audiences that it even eclipsed 'Avatar' at the box office. From the opening riot scene onwards, the action doesn't let up.
