The 22-year-old St. Augustine man who was charged on Friday with sedition and incitement to commit a terrorist act has been remanded into custody at the St. Ann's Hospital for a mental evaluation. Jonathan Mohammed appeared before Chief Magistrate Maria Busby Earle-Caddle at the Port of Spain Magistrates' Court on Monday, accused of sedition and inciting terrorist activities. It is alleged that Mohammed made certain posts on his Facebook page on October 28th, which included a video of a moving convoy of armoured vehicles in which one of the vehicles was suddenly destroyed by an explosive. It was further discovered that posts preceding the video called on members of the public to engage in acts of racial violence. An investigation was launched by the Special Branch, and Mohammed was arrested on November 7th. The two charges against Mohammed were laid indictably. He will next appear in court on November 26th.
