To develop outstanding leaders who will make a difference in the world demands an education that is both practical and far-reaching. The third year retreat offers Fellows the opportunity to engage in field-based exercises that allow them to apply leading ideas in managerial practice and interact directly with communities and leaders of the region they visit. The 3rd year leadership retreats take the Fellows to countries with emerging economies with significant role globally. In 2009 the Global Leadership Fellows spent one week in Johannesburg and in Rustenburg, South Africa.
