Deadline approaching for Red Cross $400 disaster assistance

The final day for households to apply for the American Red Cross' Hurricane Harvey $400 financial assistance program is Tuesday, October 10 at 11:59p.m. The Red Cross will have locations in Corpus Christi, Gregory, Port Aransas, Rockport, and Victoria on Tuesday to help new people sign up for the program. To be eligible households must meet criteria which includes: Primary residence severely damaged Hurricane Harvey Displaced from their home for more than three nights Having an immediate need for basic necessities As of October 9, the Red Cross had authorized more than $190 million in direct financial assistance to help more than 477,000 qualified households through its financial assistance program. The assistance is available to the 39 counties in Texas affected by Hurricane Harvey.
