Please see the "GEM Blog: GEM Unification Rescinded, Officially" video. This is a dramatic reading of "RETRACTION: Deriving the Hypercomplex Gravity Field Equations", a blog by the Stand-Up Physicist available at Science20.com. RETRACTION: I have decided to retract three blogs (Deriving ... 4/5, 5/5, 6/5+1). I was unable to figure out a reasonable statement concerning gauge symmetry. When the blogs were initially written, I focused on the field equations, mainly the Gauss-like law, and ignored the force equations entirely. Finding a solution that works with the the field and force equations were not looked for. A consistent proposal should do all three things (fields, forces, and solutions) with grace. I have concluded it is not possible to achieve these goals with the Lagrangian as written, hence the retraction. The classical field equations for gravity and EM are nearly the same, just one sign flip. Both break the speed of light limitation. The fixes for the two laws are radically different. For EM, only one more term is required. For gravity, everything is replaced by the Einstein field equations. In this blog I show how a different rule of multiplication can lead to a new Lagrange density. From there the Euler-Lagrange equation is used to generate the field equations that would make the field equations for gravity be consistent with special relativity.
