This is a playthrough of the leftover Green Hill Zone that is still present in the Sonic 2 Nick Arcade prototype. I have a video of a playthrough of that prototype (normal gameplay) here: https://youtu.be/UoUDJzzMuVs Sorry about the video errors that occur in Zones 1&3. They are not in-game. Green Hill is only available via the stage select screen, where it is marked as such. Level select code: up, down, down, down, down, up and start This is a leftover with corrupted graphics in many places as well as collision issues due to Sonic 2 using a different coding for collision. This can be mostly fixed with the following Game Genie codes (make sure each code is activated): AA1A-CEAL AA1A-CEFT AA2A-CEB0 AA2A-CEB6 AA0T-CAG6 AA1A-CAEC AA1T-CAA2 AA1T-CAF8 AA2A-CADJ AA2A-CADR AA1T-DECG AA1T-DEHN AA2A-DECN Additionally, you may want to use the debug code: FFFFFA:0001 The loops seem to be broken. Entering from the left causes you to fly out of the upper left side of the loop and entering from the right will cause you to fall through the floor. If there is nothing below you will die. While in use the debug code will show vertical rows of non-attainable rinds that make the lamp post bing sound when touched. These are usually seen inside the loops. This isn't a glitch as it can be viewed in other levels with the debug code active. I believe these are used as markers for developers and have something to do with testing collision and various physics related to jumping and rolling. The Robotnik monitors don't do anything here. But you will run into them. There are also A LOT of shield monitors and no invincibility monitors. The 1 up monitor contains Tails face. The Tails monitor is used as a placeholder for 1 ups elsewhere in the prototype versions, specifically in Hidden Palace Zone. There is no way to play Green Hill here without Tails. Which is annoying because he's very buggy behavior-wise. He has trouble following Sonic properly and tends to get stuck far off screen. You can still hear him jumping. At this point in the development he didn't fly back to you when he was off screen. This causes issues such as getting stuck far off screen behind objects. He can eventually catch up or you can go back and fetch him. But I find it easier to leave him in the dust since he mucks up the gameplay here. He can end up bouncing around the screen like a beach ball in an attempt to follow and mimic Sonic. And this can cause Sonic to die. When Tails suddenly catches up or attempts to go off screen Sonic can lag. This happened to me in Hill Top Zone during my Simon Wai proto playthrough when Tails got on a lift ahead of me and Sonic was unable to move properly as he was lagging behind Tails. I had to do this video over several times because Tails kept causing me to die in this way. I couldn't get onto platforms without falling. So at this point in development Sonic and Tails as a team were still very much unfinished. Here Tails can cause you to lose your shield and rings when he touches an enemy. He continues to lose lots of rings too even if you only have one. After completing Act 3 you are sent to the very much unfinished Chemical Plant Zone that plays the music from Marble Zone. It is impossible to finish the level. If you got there from Green Hill the rings will be corrupted. They are normal if you accessed Chemical Plant from the level select by choosing Marble Zone.
