Apple's New Home Automation Capabilities with the iPhone XS Max, Apple Watch 4, and Siri Shortcuts If you thought Siri, the iPhone, and the Apple Watch were good at automation, well then wait until you see the next generation. Apple has upped their home automation game significantly with their latest range of products. The iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR are all significant upgrades from their iPhone X predecessor. They carry the Bionic A12 processor, which is at least 5 times faster with computational processing. That means, simply put, it's way faster and capable of so much more. What struck me about the iPhone XS Max is the fact that it's 6.5 inch display was so large, it was definitely considered a phablet. When you consider the growth in smart displays, the growth in HomeKit and Siri capability, this is definitely on purpose. I'm betting that device is intended to become a Smart Display from Apple. The Apple Watch 4 has all kinds of great upgrades and new features, but the biggest for me is the health and wellness automation. Not only does the Apple Watch 4 measure your heart and tell you if you have an irregular heartbeat, but it also can make emergency calls/notifications if you fall and don't move for a minute. That's so important if you consider issues like strokes and their required response times. HomeKit, Siri, and the HomePod have all received upgrades through a couple new features with Siri. Searching for songs by lyrics, making iOS phone calls, finding your iPhone, and multiple timers are all being added to iOS 12. All in all, Apple has set the stage for an absolute war with Google and Amazon in the world of automation. I don't know who can keep up with those three companies anymore, and it's obvious they're all headed down similar, AI-driven, life-automation paths.
