Why are youth the prime candidates to become leaders in inquiry? Arjun Nair shares the enigmatic joy of delving into humanity’s oldest discipline and describes his young but maturing scientific pursuits. Since elementary, Arjun has explored a variety of topics from algae-based biodiesel to multiple sclerosis. When his closest family member was diagnosed with cancer, Arjun, at the age of 14, was determined to conduct empirical research; he has since then progressed from analyzing mathematical models to evaluating potential cancer therapeutics at the University of Calgary. His work earned top honors at the National Sanofi BioGENEius Challenge and a 3rd place grand award in Medicine at the last Intel International Science and Engineering Fair. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
