Dangerous Prototype's open source USB Persistence of Vision Toy got a big firmware update today. Wave it in the air and the light spell words or make patters. What sets it apart is USB pattern loading, and an accelerometer that syncs the display to hand motions. This project will probably be ready by May of 2012.
