A family visit during the holidays was nearly ruined after a driver collided their car Saturday in Visalia. A solo driver of a Nissan Titan was traveling northbound on Road 56 around 7 p.m., a CHP officer says, when they didn't notice a Mercedes westbound on Highway 198. The pickup truck driver crossed the highway, colliding into the car and the pickup overturned in a nearby orchard, knocking down a stop sign and some fencing in the process. Alcohol and drugs are not a factor in the collision, and the officer says it was just a careless mistake. The two people in the Mercedes are from Nevada traveling to see family in Hanford. CHP says to use the accident as a word of caution to holiday drivers.
