A mass rally held by Ethiopia's new Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed on Saturday, June 23, was marred by a explosion that killed at least four people, according to the Addis Standard.A live broadcast by Ethiopia's government press agency captured the sound of the blast and the reaction of Ahmed from the stage.Abiy Ahmed described the incident as "an unsuccessful attempt by forces who do not want to see Ethiopia united," according to Reuters. Ahmed said a number of people were killed, though this was later contradicted by a government spokesman, who said 83 people were injured, six critically, but no deaths had occurred.
