The Beacon of Hope marks the highest point of the new International Orangutan Center, which will open at the Indianapolis Zoo in May 2014. On July 19, 2013, crews topped of the exhibit by placing the 75-foot spire atop the main structure. The iconic Beacon of Hope stretches 150 feet into the sky. At night, it will be illuminated by lights the orangutans turn on themselves, reminding Indianapolis that there is still hope for orangutans, but that hope is centered on us.
