Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley says he has not had any direct consultation with officials in Venezuela as it pertains to the influx of illegal immigrants passing through Trinidad and Tobago's borders. He said the National Security and Foreign Affairs Ministries are in constant communication with T&T's Venezuelan counterparts. The Prime Minister was questioned by the opposition on the matter this morning in the House of Representatives. He was also asked to indicate how many coast guard vessels are available for use by the Coast Guard. Dr. Rowley said presently there are sixteen vessels available eight interceptors and eight patrol vessels. Naparima MP, Rodney Charles sought leave to move the adjournment of the house for the purpose of discussing "the relatively open borders throughout Trinidad and Tobago" as an urgent matter of definite importance. Deputy Speaker of the House Esmond Forde said he was not satisfied that the matter qualified under standing order 17:1 and advised the MP to pursue the matter under standing order 16.
