Roberto De Jesús Guerra Pérez began working as an independent journalist in Cuba in 2003. For more than a decade, he led a news agency called Hablemos Press. He wrote stories and produced videos that highlighted human rights abuses in Cuba. He was a prominent member of Cuba's political opposition. Authorities arrested him dozens of times. His work drew international attention. Roberto now lives in the United States.
