This last Proto Man stage is short than all the others. You have to break rocks that make the area collapse so you can move on. Just make sure not to get impaled or crushed doing this.

When you quickly reach the end, Proto Man is there, but he plays his tune, but it sounds a bit off. Mega Man finally got to confront him, but at the same time, he was hesitant to to fight him, his own brother. Proto Man took our 99% of Mega Man's health with one shot in response.

It seemed like it was the end for the Blue Bomber, but then another Proto Man shows up, with his scarf and a correct version of his theme, to boot.

This was the real Proto Man, while the Proto Man Mega Man didn't want to fight was a fake all along. The fake tried to attack the real Proto, but Proto dodged his attack and shot him, revealing him to actually be Dark Man IV. Proto Man then gives Mega Man an L Tank to completely heal him so he can fight this last Dark Man.

Dark Man IV likes to shoot while having defensive barriers swirl around him. Sometimes he unleashes these barriers to make a huge leap towards Mega Man, where the barriers return to him a bit after he lands.

The Power Stone & Star Crash damage this Dark Man more than all of the other weapons, but you're better off just using a Super Mega Buster instead, and Beat if he has energy.

After defeating Dark Man IV, Dr. Wily finally makes his grand reappearance. He was the one that used the Dark Man Mega Man just now defeated to frame Proto Man for his crimes, but since Mega Man got in the way, some of Wily's plans were thwarted.

Right now, Dr. Light is being held hostage at Wily's latest lab/castle/fortress. He invites Mega Man to go after him to save Light if he dares.
