Scholars from the United States, Japan, China, South Korea, and Norway gathered at UCSB for this three-day conference. Participants examined how historical memories are intertwined with the recent upsurge of nationalism in East Asia, and discussed specific paths to reconciliation between Japan and its neighbors.
