We're in the studio mixing sound and music for Debug...what's your favourite movie soundtrack? Tim Williams is my go-to composer, he's an incredibly talented guy and I absolutely loved what he did for my first film A Dog's Breakfast. I'm also a huge fan of Cliff Martinez's work (Solaris, Drive, Traffic) and also Daft Punk's latest Tron soundtrack was blasting in my headphones while I wrote Debug...I think that one of the reasons that I so loved Blade Runner was that fantastic Vangelis soundtrack. I think music is the most powerful drug that's ever been created...it can change my mood with a single chord...but then again, maybe I'm just particularly moody?! Seeing scenes with and without music was so eye-opening...or ear-opening perhaps...a flat scene became completely mesmerizing and poignant in a way that wouldn't have been possible without it. Danny Boyle is another guy who does an amazing job with music...more existing songs, like Tarantino who of course made that a signature part of all his films...it's a powerful filmmaking force!
