Dark Souls 2: Dragonrider Boss Guide | How to Defeat the Dragonrider (NG+++)

Welcome to Dark Souls 2!

ATTENTION: All my Dark Souls 2 videos are for helping purposes and learning where to find certain items. I do not in any way claim to be good at this game, nor do I think I'm very good. So please steer clear of pointing out flaws in my combat. 

This is a boss guide for the Dragonrider. He waits for you in Heide's Tower of Flame. The NPC Masterless Glencour can be summoned for this fight. His summon sign will be right outside the boss fog.

Area: Heide's Tower of Flame
Location: To the right where the way splits in two

The Dragonrider's moveset (move names from Dark Souls 2 wiki, link below):

● Thrust Attack: The Dragonrider will thrust his halberd forward. Very easy to avoid, simply roll to his left and you should be able to dodge the attack and still have enough time to get in some attacks yourself.

● Slam Attack: The Dragonrider will slam his halberd down in the ground. He might follow up with two more attacks. Roll to one of the sides right before his halberd hits you to avoid it. Don't try to roll backwards as he might still be in range. The whole combo goes like this: Downward slam - Horizontal Swing - Downward slam.

● Sweep Attack: The Dragonrider will swing his halberd horizontally up to two times. For this one, I would recommend rolling backwards a couple of times to get out of range. Rolling towards the swing also works, but it requires more timing on your rolls.

● Shield Bash: The Dragonrider will do a shield bash. Simply roll backwards when you see him trying to use this attack. If it connects while you're having your guard up, it will drain your stamina and leave you very vulnerable to his attacks.
