--Overall Comments--

Season Five keeps going strong with the first episode from Amy Keating Rogers, “The Lost Treasure of Griffonstone”!  Here we get our first continuation of this season’s overarching story arc, The Cutie Map, with it now calling Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie to the Griffon Kingdom.  It’s great to see this show continue to world build and explore not only new places, but new concepts, while at the same time revisiting old characters.  Here we have the return of Gilda the Griffon, who we haven’t seen since her one appearance in season 1! It’s a great reuse and redemption episode for her, as well as Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie.  While this episode contains no songs due to a strict singing ban in Griffonstone, the BGM is this episode really shines, after taking more of a backseat for the past couple of episodes.  Here we get some amazing new epic music for the Griffon kingdom, as well as reprises of many of this season’s themes which were first heard in the season 5 premiere “The Cutie Map”.  I thought we might hear a few of those motifs repeated in the map episodes this season, and William Anderson did not disappoint.  It’s great to hear this show continue to strive to do it’s best in the music department!  Now, let’s get to the awesome score!

Gilda and Pinkie save Rainbow Dash.  As Gilda find the lost treasure, we get a small reprise of the Griffonstone theme, which escalates when she instead saves Rainbow Dash.
