One monsoon day, my friends and I had gone for a railfanning trip to the Kalyan - Kasara - Igatpuri - Nashik section of the Central Railway.
We took a car and went so that it becomes easy to cover many different locations.
One of the locations was about 2 to 3 km from Kasara Railway station (towards the Mumbai side). There are sharp curves in the railway line there as well. We went off the highway and took a side road to get a little close to the tracks. We parked the car and waited there for around 45 minutes from 08:15 to 09:00 am.
In those 45 minutes, we were lucky to spot 7 trains (6 express trains and 1 local train).
Out of the 6 express trains, 2 were totally unexpected as they were running many hours late.

1. The Mumbai CST - Nanded Tapovan Express crossing a Kasara - Mumbai CST local train.

2. The 7 hours late running Gorakhpur - Mumbai LTT Sant Kabir Dham Express with its LHB hybrid rake.

3. The Delhi Hazrat Nizamuddin to Ernakulam Mangala Lakshadweep Express with its diesel engine roaring away in the midst of the hills and mountains.

4. The Mumbai LTT - Gorakhpur Kashi Express.

5. The Manmad - Mumbai CST Panchvati Express with its recent LHB rake accelerating furiously and making crisp track sounds.

6. Delayed by 9 hours, the last spotting was the Mumbai - Howrah Mail.

Hope you enjoy the trains in this beautiful location. The track sounds produced were awesome and in some cases you can hear the screeching sound of the wheels rubbing against the rails as the trains take on the sharp curve.
