According to Sir Shambling - http://www.sirshambling.com/artists/G/gene_&_eddie.htm - Gene & Eddie were Gene Dorsett and Eddie Best. They released two versions of this song on Ru-Jac, this one on RJ-202 and an earlier one on RJ-0025. This, to my ears, is by far the better version - a fuller arrangement and the voices are stronger than on RJ-0025. I love this label design, and it's interesting to note that the song was written by Joe Quaterman, who would go on to record some classic funk in the early 70s.
