This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. A model where community, business and service come together: Based on the acclaimed design of Realities For Children that both creates a mutually beneficial 'private/social' partnership and unites nonprofits with similar service focus in collaboration. Removing competitive barriers to become more efficient and creating an effective way for the disenfranchised public to make a difference.

Craig Secher graduated University of Wisconsin ‐ Stevens Point with a degree in Psychology/Human Services and is a published author in two behavioral research journals. In 1991 he was a presenting author at the Society for Behavioral Medicine Conference in Washington, DC. Mr. Secher then served as a counselor at the Center for Therapeutic Learning, a residential facility for abused children in Loveland, Colorado. He also served as a Certified Addictions Counselor at Larico Youth Homes in Fort Collins, Colorado before taking a position with Larimer County Child Protection Services as an Ongoing Child Protection Case Manager.

In 1995, as a direct response to service limitations he experienced in the field of child protection, he founded Realities For Children, Inc., an alliance of 150 local business leaders dedicated to making a difference in their community. He is also a founder of Realities For Children Charities, a 501c3 nonprofit organization that partners with 22 other local nonprofits serving abused children in Larimer County. This ground‐breaking organization effectively created a way for the community at large to collaborate with youth agencies to build a more efficient continuum of services for youth in need... so that no child is forgotten.

Realities For Children has been universally acknowledged and honored by the business, human services and government communities. Most recently, the Colorado Family Support Council named them the 2013 Colorado Charity of Choice. This national attention has inspired other communities to create their own Realities For Children organizations.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
