At only 23, Viv Benjamin has already directed some of the biggest poverty campaigns in Australia. In 2007, fresh out of high school, she directed the Make Poverty History Zero Seven Road Trip -- where Kevin Rudd (as PM for the first time) made that historic commitment to increase foreign aid to 0.5% national income. Viv also founded and directed the national initiative: End Child Slavery; and has previously worked as the National Advocacy Director for TEAR. Viv had been a Director on the Oaktree board since 2008, before taking over as CEO in June 2012. An amazing role-model and inspiring young Australia. Viv, as the head of Australia's largest youth run overseas aid organisation, will be talking about how ending extreme poverty in our lifetime is very much a real possibility.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
