In 40BC, Herod the Great (as in Herod from Matthew 2), stopped in Athens as he went to appeal to Caesar in Rome. He walked through the Stoa of Attalos and was impressed. He then went on the use that example only magnified in size as his template for the Temple in Jerusalem. If you want to see what the place of the early church meeting in the Portico of Solomon's Porch (as Acts 5:12 calls it), this is what it looked like. Wow, amazing illustrations from real people in real places mentioned in God's Word. For more of Dr. John Barnett's content go to DiscoverTheBook.org
