This is a simple solar powered reed switch pulse motor that needs only the energy from a tiny photo diode to run.   The steel jar lid rotor makes a very good flywheel to store energy between the pulses along with a small capacitor.    The lid sits on a brass nail and a good lubricant is used to reduce friction.
