Quick tip for those building portal rooms: If there is a 4x4x4 space by your portal, a Ghast can spawn by it, and it will shoot explosive fireballs which will demolish your portal room. To combat this, either build your portal room with a space less that 4x4x4, or as I have done, line the walls with Obsidian
