Fishermen often lose their lead sinkers to the ocean, but the lead does not disappear. It sits there on the ocean floor like a small treasure waiting to be found. Sometimes I like to visit the ocean and hunt for lead, scouring the bottom, looking for light grey colored rocks that are not rocks, hand picking each piece, and dumping them in my bag to bring home as much as I can carry. It's a fun hobby that has given me hundreds of pounds of lead over the years, enough to make a lifetime supply of dive weights for myself.
