One of my favourite of Beethoven's compositions, though it is not as well known as some of his other ones. It is very gentle and plaintive,almost vulnerable, without so much of the Beethoven ego as is found in some of his other pieces. There is a brief stormy section, but on the whole the mood is a quiet one.
