Chief Scientist, Carl Nelson, demonstrates The Flame Tube. Also known as the Rubens Tube, this classic Physics demonstration shows properties of standing waves in a tube. Propane gas flows into a tube sealed at the other end with a speaker. A tiny row of holes on the top allow the gas to create tiny flames. The height of the flames change as the sound wave alters the pressure of the gas inside the tube. Imagination Station, Toledo's hands-on science center, is a vital non-profit organization that is an integral part of Toledo's economic, educational and social landscape. Imagination Station provides a critical layer of science enrichment by serving as an educational partner for teachers, schools and parents.
