Professor Allyson Pollock  discusses with Newsclick the Path Human Pappilomavirus Vaccine trials in Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh. There are many troubling questions on such trials, not just the more controversial one of not taking informed consent. Questions such as the efficacy of such vaccines, their cost and the priories a country such as India should have, are all important particularly when we find a number of new vaccines being promoted by the pharmaceutical companies.
