The political battle over health-care reform in the United States will intensify in the coming weeks. The issue is President Barack Obama's top domestic priority, but recent opinion polls indicate that public support is slipping for the effort to reform the health care system. The president has tried to re-energize Democrats who support the reform effort, but Republicans appear to be unmoved, and they have vowed to continue trying to defeat Mr. Obama's plan.
