Someone has asked me some advice on improvising over this tune for an exam... so I'll try and help. It's straightforward, almost too simple, so it makes coming up with something interesting quite a challenge.

The fist eight bars are II/V7/I, but not in that order, I/II/V7 in C major, so you can potter about on the c major scale, try an F sharp for on the Cmaj7th chord. In the 10th and 11th bar you have an A minor II V7 I so introduce the G sharp on the V7 chord. Its then back to the Cmaj chords again.

In bar 13 there is a D7 chord, I use the f sharp, then F natural on the D minor chord that follows

In bar 22 there is a g minor chord, so use the Bb here to emphasise that

On bar 26 you have a F sharp minor 7 flat 5, a nice excuse to use your half diminished scale, which is basically here G major scale, starting on F sharp.

Bar 28 has a fleeting A7 sharp 9, which you could use a diminished scale over, but I don't have the time to squeeze that in at this speed.

Hope that has helped a bit.
