Hello YouTube, it's Chrisy here from fellowes52.co.uk and today I am going to show you how to set your title and descriptions on a YouTube video properly.

First off on a desktop go to youtube.com, click the upload button on the top right hand corner you will then see the upload screen. Click the middle of this box and select your file to begin uploading. Once the video begins uploading, over on the right hand side change the public to private. This means you are free to do work on the video without the video ever going public.

Next, click on monetization and select to run adverts on YouTube videos if you are allowed to do so. Next, press Advantaged settings. You can follow the settings I have on here. Under category my advice is to select one that suits your channel and always upload into that category. Select your recording date as today, thus means that your video will be uploaded to that date, giving better chance of people finding your new video if they search by a date. Once that is done go back over to info to fill in your title, description and tags.

I will now demonstrate how to set your title, description and tags on YouTube by showing you one of my more successful videos on YouTube. As you can see there are over 11,000 video views since its upload in January 2014. The reason I believe this is successful is the way I have worded my title, description and set my tags. First off I have a title that corresponds to my video, in this case it's about the Chromebook that we purchased last year at Christmas time. My next point is to have a really good description. This is really important on YouTube. These first 3 lines is what we call your 'call to action' anything that is in the first few lines is what Google search picks up on. If you just have one word as a description the chances of your video ever being found is slim! The main reason for the description is to describe what exactly is in your video. Write as much in your description as much as you physically can about your video, the more detail the better. If you are unsure how to write a proper description then please send me the link to your video, I can watch it and write you a description for you to suit your video, thus hopefully building your views.

As you can see in this sample video I keep repeating the word Chromebook and something similar to the title in the description. This is because the more time you use keywords the better chances are Google will crawl your video. Although please don't just write a full list of the same word over and over again, this won't get you anywhere. If you add links to your description then write them as http:// then the URL. If linking to a YouTube channel, make sure you use /user/USERNAME this means the link will open better on the YouTube app.

Moving onto tags, as you can see tags has real importance on YouTube. Use your title in your tags. Plus, anything else that relates to your video. If you are really stuck looking for tags I have found an easy way to related tags.

The best thing to gain extra tags is to, open up a new tab on your browser. Search for a video that relates to your own. Click the first few videos in turn, then pause the video. Simply right click anywhere on the side on the page, press view page source. You will be greeted with a page that looks quite scary but just simply Press Ctrl + F to bring up the find box. In the search box on the top right, enter in 'keywords'. Press the down arrow. All the words I have highlighted in my video are my tags which are in the tags section of my video. This is good practice if you're not good at making tags at the beginning.

As you can see my two videos on the Chromebook are at the top of the search on YouTube. The way Google ranks videos on YouTube is based on the length of time each person watches. So if everyone watched the video in full the higher it goes up the searches. So if you want your video to be found make your videos entertaining and something that you would want to watch to keep your viewer there!

One last thing on uploading to YouTube, make sure you set a good thumbnail. The dimensions for setting your thumbnail is 1920 by 1080 pixels. If you don't have Photoshop then download Gimp, the link is in the description below. Everything inside this box will appear as your thumbnail. The better it looks the better changes are people will click your video!

Once you are happy with everything for your video, change the private to public, press save changes and hopefully watch the video views roll in! If you need any help leave a comment, or if not then hit that like button if you thought this was helpful. Until the next time, thanks for watching!
